What's new: Update: 8-21-11 Album release: "Lab 2011" by the One O'Clock Lab Band

Well,You Needn’t (YouTube link) This update's a little late, as the album came out back in March. I'm playing trombone on this album, as well as writing one of the charts. Here's my arrangement of the Monk tune, "Well, You Needn't". Trombone solo by Kale Scherler and guitar solo by Ryan Davidson. This album features the University of North Texas Two O'Clock Lab Band, recorded in 2010-11. I'm playing lead trombone on here, and we recorded two of my arrangements, Just Friends and Beautiful Love. Click on the previous links to hear the track and watch us record it in the studio. Starting in January, I'll be section trombonist with the concert band and jazz trombonist with the dixie band and swing band. Sean soloing with the One O'Clock Lab Band
I'm starting my doctorate now at North Texas. This fall, I'll be playing in the One O'Clock Lab Band. I'll get to travel with the band to Ireland and England in October for 10 days, as well as play a joint concert with the Houston Symphony in November! I'll also be playing bass trombone in the Two O'Clock Lab Band, as well as teaching trombone lessons and jazz arranging. Update: 6-20-10 I just finished a short gig onanother cruise ship. It was a last minute gig. I spent 2 weeks on theSapphire Princess, in Alaska. 
Update: 5-15-10 I graduated from the University ofNorth Texas. I received my master's degree in music, classicaltrombone with a minor in jazz studies. I'll be starting a doctoraldegree, also at UNT, in the fall. Update: 5-4-10 The UNT Jazz Singers I performed my arrangement of "My One and Only Love" on their Spring concert. It's an a cappella ballad arrangement of the old standard. I'm also singing on this recording. Check it out here: My One and Only Love

Update: 2-26-10 In addition to my classicaltrombone recital, I am having a jazz arranging recital, which I amsharing with Thomas Davis. We will have a full big band, as well as afew small group charts. March 8, 8:00PM, in UNT KentonHall Update:2-15-10 Mytrombone recital is coming up! March28th, 3:30pm, at the UNT Recital Hall. I willbe playing the alto, tenor, bass, and contrabass trombones.

Update: 1-20-10 Just finished a gig on the EmeraldPrincess cruise ship. Enjoyed spending my winter vacation in thecaribbean. Warm and sunny, not bad!  Update: 12-06-09 Added some new recordings, underthe "Arrangements" section of the site. "Bailout"and "Southampton" are two compositions that I have writtenand arranged for jazz sextet. These charts were recorded at SeanJones's home studio. The players were: Pete Clagett, trumpet; BrianClancy, sax; Sean Nelson, trombone; Sean Giddings, piano; JuliaAdamy, bass; and Duran Ritz, drums. Also added a new studio recordingof "Well, You Needn't." This is played by the "U-Tubes,"UNT's jazz trombone ensemble. |
