Well,You Needn’t (YouTube link) I'm playing trombone on this album, as well as writing one of the charts. Here's my arrangement of the Monk tune, "Well, You Needn't". This album features the University of North Texas Two O'Clock Lab Band, recorded in 2010-11. Sean soloing with the One O'Clock Lab Band
I'm starting my doctorate now at North Texas. This fall, I'll be playing in the One O'Clock Lab Band. I'll get to travel with the band to Ireland and England in October for 10 days, as well as play a joint concert with the Houston Symphony in November! I'll also be playing bass trombone in the Two O'Clock Lab Band, as well as teaching trombone lessons and jazz arranging. Update: 6-20-10 I just finished a short gig on another cruise ship. I spent 2 weeks on theSapphire Princess, in Alaska.
Update: 5-15-10 I graduated from the University of North Texas. I received my master's degree in music, classical trombone with a minor in jazz studies. I'll be starting a doctoral degree, also at UNT, in the fall. Update: 5-4-10 The UNT Jazz Singers I performed my arrangement of "My One and Only Love" on their Spring concert. It's an a cappella ballad arrangement of the old standard. I'm also singing on this recording. Check it out here: My One and Only Love

Update: 2-26-10 In addition to my classical trombone recital, I am having a jazz arranging recital, which I am sharing with Thomas Davis. We will have a full big band, as well as a few small group charts. March 8, 8:00PM, in UNT KentonHall Update:2-15-10 My trombone recital is coming up! March 28th, 3:30pm, at the UNT Recital Hall. Update: 1-20-10 Just finished a gig on the Emerald Princess cruise ship. Enjoyed spending my winter vacation in the caribbean. Warm and sunny, not bad!  Update: 12-06-09 Added some new recordings, under the "Arrangements" section of the site. "Bailout" and "Southampton" are two compositions that I have written and arranged for jazz sextet. These charts were recorded at Sean Jones's home studio. The players were: Pete Clagett, trumpet; Brian Clancy, sax; Sean Nelson, trombone; Sean Giddings, piano; Julia Adamy, bass; and Duran Ritz, drums. Also added a new studio recording of "Well, You Needn't." This is played by the "U-Tubes," UNT's jazz trombone ensemble. |
