Welcome to Sean Nelson Music!

What's new:

Update: 6-27-09

  • The last few weeks have been full of big band bass trombone for me. I played with the Dallas Original Jazz Orchestra, Lone Star Jazz Orchestra, Rebel Alliance Big Band, and the Shelly Carroll/Brad Leali Big Band.

  • Starting in the fall, I will begin my job as teaching fellow for the trombone studio at UNT. I’ll be teaching trombone lessons for undergraduate music majors and non-majors, as well as a few other duties.

Update: 6-1-09

  • I played with the Dallas salsa band Carabali last weekend at a concert in Memphis, TN. What a great band! The concert was in the “Levitt Shell”, an outdoor amphitheater near downtown Memphis. Check out the Youtube video here.

  • I had a good audition experience, although I didn't win - I made the second round for the Air Force audition. One of six people that advanced. Getting closer!

Update: 5-9-09

  • I have an audition coming up for the Air Force Ceremonial Brass. It’s in the third week of May, in Washington DC. Wish me luck!

  • This summer, I will be taking a course on radio and TV music composition.

  • I played my master's recital, in April. Here's the program:
    • Sonata in F Minor, by Telemann (with organ)
    • Trombone Concerto, by Bourgeois
    • Variations in F# minor, by Stekke
    • Bailout, my jazz composition, arranged for sextet

Check out the sounds section on the website to hear recordings of the Telemann Sonata and Bailout.
